Homeopathy is ‘First-Line-Medicine’ – at least this is what a German pro-homeopathy website recently proclaimed. The notion, it informs us, is based on EU law.
But is that true?
Does the ‘Regulation (EU) 2018/848 of the European Parliament and of the Council on organic production (…)’ really recommend homeopathy for treating animals?
This is what the EU law states (my translation from a German original):
‘Diseases shall be treated immediately to avoid animal suffering; chemically-synthesised allopathic veterinary medicinal products, including antibiotics, may be administered, if necessary, under strict conditions and under the responsibility of a veterinarian, when treatment with phytotherapeutic, homeopathic and other remedies is inappropriate … phytotherapeutic and homeopathic preparations are preferable to chemically synthesised allopathic veterinary medicinal products, including antibiotics, provided that their therapeutic effect is guaranteed for the species concerned and the disease to be treated’.
Let’s analyse the text and find out what it really means. It states that:
- Vets should treat suffering animal without delay.
- They should use conventional therapies when homeopathy is inappropriate.
- Homeopathics are preferable, if their therapeutic effect is guaranteed for the species concerned and the disease to be treated.
So, homeopathy is recommended under two important and well-defined conditions:
- They have to be appropriate.
- They have to be proven to be effective.
It is amply clear that homeopathy has not been proven to be effective in any condition that afflicts animals. As this is so, homeopathics are evidently inappropriate.
But why, does the EU make it so complicated?
I don’t know the answer to this question but suspect that there was plenty of lobbying going on, and they had to find a phraseology that apeases the homeopaths and their industry.
The EU regulation is derived from FAO Guidelines. The wording is only slightly different in that document on this issue, see https://www.fao.org/4/a1385e/a1385e00.htm
Stupification is an actual word. It seems to have seen little use through the ages – until now.
Billionaire idiots are suddenly able to purchase the public opinion of half a nation, resulting in a mentally disabled sociopathic narcissist idiot being elected as the next president of the US, already appointing even more extreme idiots in key governing positions.
What has poor Greece, e.g., done to deserve an intellectual trainwreck as ambassador? Don’t they have enough problems of their own?
China bought the presidency of WHO for a whole decade resulting in the next version of the catalog of modern medical diagnoses being soiled with a whole section on prescientific ritualistic healing practices for the sole purpose of her mother-country selling more fake medicine to the unknowing around the world .
Professor Ernst presents here an example of this metastatic stupification. Idiots are being voted into the EU parliament giving other idiots fancy positions in the high halls of Buxelles while bloating the regulatory system with make-believe medicine and over-hyped environmental protection ideology under the influence of wine and cheese 😀
Idiots have suddenly been given a box to shout on over the interweb, parroting and potentiating each other’s idiotic opinions instead of researched facts. Their voices were previously contained in the back alleys of extremism and did not propagate far. Now their every syllable is heard immediately and literally all over (most of ) the world propagating and potentising idiocy an order of magnitude each cycle around the globe – at the speed of light.
Where and when will this logarithmic stupification of mankind end?
In the next US president getting another brainfart and releasing the nuclear arsenal on Russia?
Well – probably not. The Pentagon will of course give him the wrong codes, just in case. And he would first have to convince the genrals to aim the rockets at Canada and Mexico. He adores Putin too much to bomb his place.
But there are less dramatic insiduous ways of mass destruction. Like placing a Keystone-cops cadre of public health hazards in positions of power over public health.
I feel genuinely sorry for coming generations who will need to endure until -hopefully – sense and wisdom again may grasp the reins and steer the situation back on track.
Cheers

The original English version also is avalable. One only has to change 2 letters (“DE” –> “EN”):

The situation is absolutely clear: The esotters messed up the laws completely. In the original we find these passages:

1.5.2.2.
Disease shall be treated immediately to avoid suffering of the animal.
Chemically synthesised allopathic veterinary medicinal products,
including antibiotics, may be used where necessary, under strict
conditions and under the responsibility of a veterinarian, when the
use of phytotherapeutic, homeopathic and other products is inappro
priate. In particular, restrictions with respect to courses of treatment
and withdrawal periods shall be defined.
1.5.2.3.
Feed materials of mineral origin authorised pursuant to Article 24 for
use in organic production, nutritional additives authorised pursuant to
Article 24 for use in organic production, and phytotherapeutic and
homeopathic products shall be used in preference to treatment with
chemically synthesised allopathic veterinary medicinal products,
including antibiotics, provided that their therapeutic effect is
effective for the species of animal and for the condition for which
the treatment is intended.

In detail: “homeopathic products shall be used IN PREFERENCE to treatment with
chemically synthesised allopathic veterinary medicinal products,”
This is easy to fulfill: “provided that their therapeutic effect is effective for the species of animal and for the condition for which
the treatment is intended.” Yes, easy! Because homeopaths prove everything. They even proved that homeopathy is Evidence-Based Medicine.

3.1.4.2.
Veterinary treatments
With regard to veterinary treatments, the following rules shall apply:
(a) disease shall be treated immediately to avoid suffering to the
animal. Chemically synthesised allopathic veterinary medicinal
products, including antibiotics, may be used where necessary,
under strict conditions and under the responsibility of a
veterinarian, where the use of phytotherapeutic, homeopathic and
other products is inappropriate. Where appropriate, restrictions
with respect to courses of treatment and withdrawal periods shall
be defined;

In detail: “where the use of phytotherapeutic, homeopathic and other products is inappropriate.” Easy to fulfill. Homeopathy NEVER and NOWHERE is inappropriate.
Looking only for the character string “homeo” is not enough. Search for “allopath” and find this:

There you have it expressis verbis: “ORDER OF PREFERENCE”.
Homeopathy is fraud. What do fraudsters do? Become politicians. Well, it is a synonym, isn’t it?
You forget Hanlon’s Razor that stipulates:
“Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity” Most homeopaths are ignorantly oblivious to the fact that their chosen belief is based on… nothing but thin water.
But those, who wrote the law text, are far from being stupid. They do know what they do, and they do it on purpose. All they do is permanently discussed with lawyers. Some years ago, the anti-vaxxers hired a law professor for making them a paper. Much of their time is spent just with these legal matters.
Stupidity does not exclude cunning and greed.
Nor is there any definition, it seems, of “phytotherapeutic”.
How plant-based does the medicine have to be? In humans, is Digoxin “phytotherapy”, since it is derived from the Purple foxglove? Is atropine “phytotherapy” since it is derived from various plants?
Us CAMists know how to promote homeopathy as effective and appropriate to the general public.
Flapdoodle quantum physics explain shaken water with certainty. In the great scheme of things those of us shaking water for fun know where homeopathy is these days but we don’t know how fast it is going.
