The ‘OFFICIAL HOMEOPATHY RESOURCE‘ is an odd publication which, until very recently, I did not know about. They inform us about homeopathy as follows:
Homeopathy is a non-corporate 200-year-old system of medicine used successfully by tens of millions worldwide, and the second most utilized complementary health discipline in the world (according to the World Health Organization 2005). It has a laudable 200-year clinical record. There are literally hundreds of high quality basic science, pre-clinical and clinical studies showing it works.
This is the online web site for accurate information on homeopathy, homeopaths and homeopathic organizations. Its hard to get accurate information on this popular and traditional healing modality as a result of Drug Company Sponsored Blogs, Web Sites and their sponsored “Science Writers”.
Finally, there is a positive and comprehensive resource and you have found it. We hope you enjoy this site’s information and decide on or continue homeopathic treatment to experience it’s benefits.

So far so good; well not SO good actually: this short text opens a lot of questions. But this is not what I want to address today. The ‘OFFICIAL HOMEOPATHY RESOURCE’ appeared on my screen only for one reason; they just published a whole, albeit short article about me! It is entitled ‘Pharmaceutical Company Found Guilty of Fuelling Opioid Epidemic But Sponsored Skeptics Continue Attacks on Safe Alternatives‘. Here it is in its full and unabbreviated beauty:
Even though the pharmaceutical industry has paid billions in fines over the years for failures and deceptions that have caused serious injuries and death, the pharmaceutical sponsored skeptic organizations and skeptics like Edzard Ernst spread outright lies about the false dangers of alternatives. They try to take the heat off the failures and dangers of drugs by smearing safe alternatives like homeopathy. They even go to the point of going to government organizations and falsely claiming alternatives are dangerous. They say nothing or a minimum about their sponsors.
One such skeptic Edzard Ernst attempts to present himself as an expert which most skeptics do. As a means of puffing himself up and making it seemed like he knows something about homeopathy, he claimed he was a homeopath and switched to allopathic medicine when homeopathy did not work. This has been proven to be an outright lie. He has had no training in homeopathy.
Unfortunately skeptics, like lemmings, support only pharmaceutical company generated science as if it was the holy grail.
Homeopathy has been proven to be very effective in pain relief and is non-addictive.

I am afraid they must have missed what I disclosed repeatedly about my sponsors. Let me therefore repeat it especially for them (I tried to find out who exactly ‘THEY’ are, but they are not disclosing this information, as far as I can see):

You can just imagine some rabid homeopath furiously banging away at the keyboard, red-faced and fuming.

It’s very simple, Dendra. The draft analysis was performed poorly. The NHMRC saw this and rejected the draft. Homeopaths and similar fools will trumpet to the rafters that the truth about homeopathy is being suppressed. They will ignore the explanations and the annotations. As ever, they will see only what they want to see. And the truth will remain. The final conclusion of the 2015 report. “Based on the assessment of the evidence of effectiveness of homeopathy, NHMRC concludes that there are no health conditions for which there is reliable evidence that homeopathy is effective.”
The World will continue to turn, homeopathy will continue to have no effect beyond placebo, proper medicine will continue to ignore it and homepaths will continue with their delusions of significance whilst everyone else points and laughs at them.
The release of the 2012 draft alters nothing whatsoever.

Well, far be it for me to pre-empt Prof Ernst’s blog post on the subject but even I, after roughly two minutes of looking, have managed to spot the following in the CEO’s statement (https://www.hri-research.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/3-CEO-statement-signed.pdf)
‘It must be emphasised that [the 2012 draft report] is an incomplete piece of work that is not a NHMRC-endorsed report, therefore its content must be read in this context. NHMRC’s usual practices of quality assurance were not applied to this document. These practices (which include methodological review, expert review, public consultation and approval from the expert committee and NHMRC’s Council) can often result in significant changes to initial drafts.
‘NHMRC strongly encourages interested members of the community to refer to the 2015 NHMRC Information Paper: Evidence of the effectiveness of homeopathy for treating health conditions. Contrary to some claims, the review did not conclude that homeopathy was ineffective. Rather, it stated that “based on the assessment of the evidence of effectiveness of homeopathy, NHMRC concludes that there are no health conditions for which there is reliable evidence that homeopathy is effective.”’
In other words the ‘2012 draft report’ was just that, a draft report which hadn’t been subject to normal quality assurance by the comissioning body. So simply the normal scientific process of investigation, not some anti-homeopathy cover-up. This is just another example of homeopaths cherry-picking the information they prefer to hear rather than the larger truth. It’s so blatant too, for instance the HRI statement says ‘We also welcome the valuable clarification provided by NHMRC CEO Prof Anne Kelso, that NHMRC’s second Homeopathy Review published in 2015 “did not conclude that homeopathy was ineffective”’ while completely omitting the actual conclusion which was ‘there are no health conditions for which there is reliable evidence that homeopathy is effective’! They’re more concerned with the semantics of the report than its actual findings.
As always with such people everything is a conspiracy, anything to compensate for a lack of evidence. Nothing to see here, move along please…

I think that many will be surprised if you don’t deconstruct this Edzard. Unlike you to miss an easy opportunity to attack homeopathy.

The content of the draft report isn’t that interesting.
To quote Kelso –
“I am also aware and concerned that a significant amount of misinformation has built up about the content of this 2012 draft report. I am releasing the report now in an annotated form to address this misinformation.”
The misinformation comes mainly from HRI and 4Homeopathy and has been spread by homeopathy supporters. It is still going on. For example, the highly selective quotes from Kelso’s statements that are currently being spread. Poor language comprehension skills may also play a part.

I read in newspaper years back that Canada has banned Indian Ayurvedic Medicine import as it contains heavy lead etc. In a same way, if Homeopathy is only shaken water, why innocent people are allowed to be cheated ? The western countries government are wise & not foolish.
And I don’t consider Earnie’s best friend foolish. 😀
The attempts of some to try to explain homeopathy using “sciencey” language are laughable (eg quantum flapdoodle) but media stories about homeoprophylaxis, homeopaths jetting off to the developing world to inflict their hubris on the poor and seriously ill probably do more damage.
